Favorite Things Friday: What I’m Loving This Week

Uncategorized

If you follow me on the ‘gram, you probably know that I posted my very first Workwear Wednesday look this week. To go along with the theme, I wanted to roll out something I’ve wanted to do for a while now: a weekly post where I highlight a few of my favorite things that have helped get me through the week. I promise this isn’t spon-con; just some of the stuff I’m truly loving at the moment!

I am not afraid to admit that I am THE basic white girl when it comes to fall. Fall is my favorite season and October is my favorite month of the year. I was born in an apple orchard and I bleed candy corn. The Great Pumpkin is my second cousin. Pumpkin Swirl Iced Coffee from Dunks? Gimme five.

Although I will always believe that fall starts the day after Labor Day, it didn’t really feel like it until this week. And it hit me HARD. Pumpkins and mums on every doorstep. That cool breeze carrying leaves gently to the ground. The occasional severed hand emerging from the ground.* I’m in my ZONE.

*Halloween decorations, I hope.

This week was all about incorporating those cozy (and creepy) fall feelings into everything – home, work, you name it. So, without further ado, here are the five things that I was really feelin’ this week.

1. Camel (colored) clothing and accessories

Camel sweaters. Camel blazers. Camel flats. You name it, I want it. It’s such a classic neutral but I never really appreciate it until October rolls around. I’ve picked up a few pieces in my favorite shade to work into both my work and everyday wardrobes.

Reversible Poncho, Banana Republic Factory

2. The “My Favorite Murder” Podcast

I honestly don’t know how I’ve gone so long without listening to My Favorite Murder. It’s hilarious, grim, and fascinating all at the same time. Not to mention I want Karen and Georgia (the hosts) to be my best friends. What’s not to love about two girls just sitting around talking about serial killers?

But seriously, listen to it. I listen on Spotify and I can’t get enough.

3. My essential oil diffuser

Now, I don’t necessarily believe in all the claims about essential oils and their curative powers (sorry, don’t @ me). However, I know for a fact that they smell good. I have a small diffuser that I keep at my office and I’ve been running it constantly. Right now my favorite oil is a dupe of “Thieves” from Young Living that I found on Amazon (“Five Guards” from Natural Riches). It’s a blend of cinnamon, clove, rosemary, lemon, and eucalyptus, which together are supposedly a natural germ fighter. Again, I’m not entirely convinced; however, it makes my office smell HEAVENLY. And if it kills a few germs here and there? Even better!

4. Malin + Goetz Recovery Treatment Oil

I got a bottle of this in my Fall CauseBox, and I love it. It’s super lightweight and absorbs quickly, so it doesn’t leave me greasy. I’ve been putting it on in the morning after I wash my face but before I put my makeup on. I’ve noticed that my skin is a bit more glowy than usual, and I also haven’t broken out. Since it’s not too heavy, it’s something great to add to your routine as we begin to transition to the drier seasons (a.k.a. scaly time).

It smells good, too!

5. Bath & Body Works Candles in “Leaves”

I’m going to be honest: I may have a candle problem. Bath & Body Works candles, to be more specific, and especially fall candles. What can I say, I’m a sucker for a spiced pumpkin candle! But right now I am OBSESSED with the most perfect fall candle scent that my nose has ever had the pleasure of sniffing: the “Leaves” scent. It’s apple-y but with enough spice to balance out the fruitiness. I also love that the jar and candle are both white, which blends in with what little decor we have right now. The one problem I have with BB&W candles, though, is that the scents I love sell out so quickly – I definitely recommend picking one up sooner rather than later, just in case. I may or may not have ordered a few more since I’m burning through them so quickly (pun intended).

I love the cute artwork on the jar.

So there you have it – throw on your coziest camel sweater, light up your falliest candle, and listen to your murderiest podcast if you, like me, are ready to immerse yourself in all the fall feels.

I’ve told you mine, now you tell me yours – what has been keeping you going this week? Let me know down below!
